Connection back on. Now, the following pictures are more than enough reasons to go and dine at Marriot in Miri. The desserts are as tasty as is shown in the pictures. It’s mouth-watering enough for me to forgo the main meal. Well, close to anyways.
If you have the Premium Card, it’s really worth the discounts. I mean, RM68++ per pax at the buffet at Zest (their coffee house) Restaurant and if it’s only 2 people dining, it’s an instant 50% discount. Of course, the more people, the less the discount until it caps at 25% with 5 or more people having a meal together.
More pics after I sorted out my PC and camera. Oh, PC problem was one of the RAM went kaput so put in a new one. Voila! Hopefully, this would last for a fair bit yet.

there apparently is a trick to eating buffet at marriot. go during the weekends starting friday to sunday. there’s more varieties then.
the vietnamese buffet wasn’t that good but the thai one was. during the month-long promotions, they fly in chefs from their other branches i.e. marriot vietnam chef comes. i didn’t think much of the vietnamese food buffet either but i’m a person who tends to go for western stuff more. because their grilled stuff is done very well. i did remember prawns, crabs and sotong. went on sunday lunchtime i think. prawn rolls, crab that was cook in chilli sauce and some sotong stuff? then again, vietnamese food is not like thai food which has a strong taste and more strong herbs added in. to me, vietnamese food is “delicate” and “light”, not “fiery” or “a fest of different flavours” like thai.
if you go now for their thai promotion, it’s better although some of the thai desserts can be better.
put it this way. each person would have a different view on how food should taste like. and no matter what, unless we go and actually eat in the country of origin, there’s no way any restaurant outside of said country can copy the exact taste of the local delicacies. they can mimic as close as possible but they may never come close to the real stuff.
plus, the real stuff may be something we may not like either. ^_^ so i tend to be more positive on my blog but when i do become negative, i still try to tone it down and say that it’s my view, not others.
