One fine day in 2003, I decided to start a food blog to tease my sister and my mother who were both living in the USA. Somehow, along the way, I ended up feeding a lot of people just via the food pictures that I put up everyday. In 2005, I decided to take a break from blogging and just take it easy. So there were sporadic posts from my travels in the US as well as Germany and England. Now in 2009, I'm trying to pick it up again and start chronicaling my journey towards a better lifestyle that is more healthy than what it currently is right now.

The Red Thermos Set

The red thermos set arrived last Friday and I can tell you it’s small. Granny was shocked to see it so small and kept saying that it won’t be enough for me. Hee hee!

Well, it’s not too bad, I think. I use the top container for a small serving of salad for breakfast. Then lunch was stir-fried somen noodles with spinach, chai sim, carrots, onions, garlic and some home-made fish balls (no flour in them). Seasoned with 1 teaspoon of Lea & Perrins sauce and 1 teaspoon of Mirin sauce.

Granny said that it smelled nice so looks like my cooking is getting better. Only thing was that there were no taste to it.

Lunch : Lemon Chicken

Lunch : Lemon Chicken

Yep, this was a lunch protein source to make lunch a good square meal. Back in university, a friend of mine taught me how to make the lemon sauce from scratch, rather than relying on the lemon sauce from the bottle. The only problem is that a lot of sugar is needed so I cut out a lot of sugar.

The chicken was pan-fried after being seasoned with pepper. The sauce is made up of purple shallots, garlic and ginger with 1 squeezed up lemon juice. I think I also added in about 1/2 teaspoon of cornflour to thicken the sauce up as well as 1-2 teaspoon of brown sugar. The pink stuff you see there was the result of the onions getting discolored by the lemon juice.

Feeling Great!

Oh yes. 🙂 Got on the scale today and bing! 90 kg! 16 kg down since I started eating homecooked meals everyday except for the occasional cheat meals.

I’m very happy that things went so well. Today’s lunch pack is a rice medley i.e. the ingredients were folded into red rice. Will take a picture later and post it up tonight.

Until then, cheerio!
