: : Ristorante Beccari ~ Part II : :

The second part of the posting. This time, the desserts at Beccari’s at Merdeka Palace!!

As usual, there are always fresh local fruits at the dessert counter. Not to mention delicious tasting fruit tarts! A lot of whipped cream under those tarts. And cakes! Chocolate cakes and cheese cakes.

This was a delicious chocolate sponge cake. Very nice but not as rich as the other chocolate cake.

The cheesecake was so-so but by then we were so full that we could barely eat it!

Chocolate-fudge-coated-profiteroles! Oh man! This was seriously very nice. The best thing was they used cream rather than custard. Was tempted to swipped the can of whipped cream at the crepe suzette counter to add more inside it.

This was a very riched chocolate cake. As we were all sharing the dessert, I ate a quarter of the small piece. Thought that Melvin will have another quarter and pass the rest to Bev but he swiped the whole thing! Bev had the same thought as I did. Haha! Was kinda shocked that Melvin just quickly put it all inside his mouth.

Lastly, the chocolate mousse! Only Melvin had it. The rest of us didn’t as we were pretty full by then.

Looking through the photographs, realised that I totally forgot to take a picture of the ice-cream with the crepe suzettes! Arggghh! Now that was nice although they put in too much lemon concencrate sauce on it. That made it so sour. Still, the ice-cream was delicious with pancakes!

Bon appetit!

: : Ristorante Beccari ~ Part I : :

Dinner was at a great Italian Restaurant in town called Ristorante Beccari. As it was Sunday night, it was the Pizza and Pasta Buffet for RM36 (US$9.47) per head. It was great to meet up with Melvin, May Lin and Bev after such a stressful week at work.

The first thing we headed for was the salad bar. A lot of very nutritional stuff there. Sounds corny but true. :p From the left, it was the seafood salad, potatoe salad and carrot and sultanas sald (minus the raisins. Darn!).

Also had the tomato salad which was pretty sweet actually.

We also headed to the pasta counter where you can mix and match the ingredients. So, creavity is all in the mind! The chefs were wonderful and the food definitely tasted delicious! My mistake was not taking the picture much earlier so you can see that the food arrangements weren’t at it’s best.

May Lin ordered some linguine which came cooked with the bolognaise sauce and garlic! Definetely a strong garlic taste.

Melvin ordered the traditional all-time favourite : spaghetti bolognaise.

I went and had my favourite : spaghetti carbonara but with linguine. It taste so nice! All the three pasta dishes came piping hot, fresh from the cooking stove!

Here, you can see the chef preparing the seafood pizza. There is a wood-fired oven in the middle of this restaurant and one can actually smell the wood-fire from the pizza. Yum! Very Italian. The smoke from the oven is vented outside so one doesn’t smell the smoke in the air-conditioned restaurant.

The pizza slices, clockwise from the bottom : beef pepperoni pizza (it is a HALAL restaurant), chicken and ham pizza and seafood pizza. Hot hot hot! Yum yum!

Roast beef cooked until it was so tender and still moist. Served with brown sauce and mushroom gravy. Ooohhh delight!

Well, that’s all for tonite! The dessert portions will be covered tomorrow!

Arriverdeci!

And there I was, trying so hard to find the calorific value of diesel. Grrr… taking a break to eat the sweet potato and short rest, finally found it. The internet is just too big a pool of resources and information!!

Live to Eat or Eat to Live? That is the question.
